چکیده

In the next generation Internet, there will be more and more applications that require real-time transmission and multicast services. To fulfill these requirements, Integrated Services (IntServ) and Differentiated Services (DiffServ) have been proposed. The IntServ architecture provides an end-to-end QoS guarantee on a per-flow basis. The DiffServ architecture, on the other hand, provides a QoS guarantee designed to aggregate flows and is more scalable for use in backbone networks. In this paper, we propose an integrated environment in which local access networks provide IntServ, while backbone networks provide DiffServ. Issues concerning how to map service classes between these two types of networks and how to provide multicast services are discussed, and possible solutions are proposed.

Supporting Quality of Service in IP multicast networks

Developers and providers of data, voice and video applications have to satisfy numerous Quality of Service (QoS) requirements and cope with different architectures emerging to provide these QoS in the Internet. IntServ, DiffServ or MPLS are technologies currently used in different administrative domains in the Internet to provide QoS. With multicast applications emerging, such as video conferen...

Quality of Service Architectures for Wireless Networks: IntServ and DiffServ Models

Guaranteeing Quality of Service (QoS) in the Internet has been proposed using two different models – the Integrated services (IntServ) model and the Differentiated services (DiffServ) model. IntServ uses the per-flow approach to provide guarantees to individual streams, while DiffServ provides aggregate assurances for a group of applications. Both these models have been designed to work for wir...

Design and Evaluation of a Multi-class Based Multicast Routing Protocol

Most of current multicast QoS routing proposals are based on the principle that QoS routes must be computed for each request, where requests explicitly express their resource requirements. As a result, within this environment, the goal of QoS routing is to satisfy individual request requirements, resorting to resource reservation to maintain those requirements after a feasible path has been fou...

Differentiated Services and Integrated Services Use of MPLS

All the new emerging QoS service architectures are motivated by the desire to improve the overall performance of IP networks. Integrated Services (Intserv), Differentiated Services (Diffserv), MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) and constraint-based routing are all technologies starting to coexist together in today’s Internet to provide means for the delivery of end-to-end QoS to applications ...

Achieving End-to-End QoS in the Next Generation Internet: Integrated Services Over Differentiated Service Networks

Currently there are two approaches to provide Quality of Service (QoS) in the next generation Internet: An early one is the Integrated Services (IntServ) with the goal of allowing end-to-end QoS to be provided to applications; the other one is the Differentiated Services (DiffServ) architecture providing QoS in the backbone. In this context, a DiffServ network may be viewed as a network element...
